Robot day 2010 is saved!

I don't think I can conjure up words to describe how mind-blowingly awesome that was, so I'm just going to analysis mode...

The way how scale was communicated was done very well. In a movie like this it could be hard to make the audience perceive huge characters in a scale you intended to:

You used close-ups of the characters, as if to show that the robots are so large they couldn't fit into one frame. Another method used was in the long distance shots the characters were lit against the sun, making it seem like the robots could blot out the sun if you were looking at them.

I don't think the movie required sound effects because you used visual methods to convey sound. The way how the feeling of impact was delivered was so visceral that I could easily imagine what it sounded like

However, the story could have been explained better. I had to watch it twice and to read the author's comments to fully understand. Leave the author's comments for something else than the story. Second, if this is a music video, the music could have been more varied and reflected the events a little better.

Little flaws don't count for much when I can say that this is probably one of the best flash movies I have ever seen. No joke.

Repost'd

It's interesting how you managed to inject obnoxious voice acting and torturously annoying characters into a movie that had NO REASON to have obnoxious voice acting and torturously annoying characters. You could have made the movie have little to no voice acting and it would have been awesome. Less is more.

Even the good animation and graphics are used to make the characters even more annoying than they should be. It looks like something that was made with a lot of time and effort, and in that sense it looks good. Especially near the beginning before the fish is introduced and the whole thing degrades into utter absurdity.

Humor movies with similar style hits Newgrounds at least once every week. Is it really necessary to copy the whole egoraptor-style obnoxious voice acting, random jokes and "witty" faces and reactions? I suppose here on the internet people have lower standards and will laugh at almost anything that presents itself as humor.

This review was previously deleted, so I decided to repost it to make it less harsh and with a more appropriate score. Few have dared to critisize this movie, among the many other movies on Newgrounds that are similar to this. There are people out there who do not identify with a style of humor like this, so I think this is something that needed to be said.

I read the review guidelines, and this review doesn't break any of them. Consider that before flagging.

Cut the shaky cam just a little bit!

After this made front page, I watched Pokemon: Fated Battle, and then this episode. Both were pretty spectacular. Lots of intense action, with a great interpretation of what Pokemon battles are like. I used to be a pokemon fan back when I was a kid, and I still do have a soft spot for Pokemon. :)

I appreciate the fact that people have different animating and directing styles. However, almost all of the shots were shaky close-ups, which seem to be the only two effects that you used. The fact that the same effects are used over and over kinda detracts from the dramatic moments the movie might have.

How about using some steadycam shots, some slowmotion and some shots taken from afar? Using different techniques will help put weight on the truly dramatic moments of the battle.

Pretty bad.

It would have been a good idea to have crossed madness characters with real life footage. Unfortunately, this idea has been ruined by a 12 year old. I know you did this a long time ago, but that doesn't change the fact it's bad.

This movie rocks, DBZ sucks.

Dragon Ball Z is propably the worst electronic entertainment that I know. It is repetitious, badly directed, badly written, badly designed, horrendously boring, stupid, retarded etc. etc. etc...

But this movie is the only good thing that atrocity Dragon Ball Z has ever spawned. Unlike in that piece-of-crap cartoon, the characters get hurt and die in this movie. The action is way better directed here than in any awful fight scene in that cartoon.
I remember this movie was done the time when people used Flash 5. The graphics still look great. It shows that you don't need fancy blur effects, but just good directing to do great graphics.

Why won't you just make proper sequels?

Gasp... You just can't do proper sequels. The Madness movies were at the best when Redeemer came out. Now the madness movies are identical, ridiculously violent crap, with no differences at all. Good sequels first improve everything about the original, and then have some fresh, new "gimmicks" to keep people watching the series. Come on! Take some time designing the next Madness movie. Forget about quantity and concentrate on quality!

My favorite flash so far.

When this came out, it had been so long when you, McFretn made your latest flash. Then, like out of the blue comes the coolest movie ever.

When the first scene started with pseudo-3d ships flying around, I just could not believe my eyes. Literally. I knew the thing was made with flash, because I was watching it on Newgrounds, but it looked so good that I had to right click on the screen to make sure!

The ship design was great. It looked and sounded the best I had seen. As I'm writing this, CI: Unregulated is #1 on my favorites list. It still had so little attention at the time, and it really sucked back then how this was losing to Bunny Kill.

I still don't understand how can this be so underrated. People might say that it's repetive, boring and lacks depth, but heck, are movies like Bunny Kill and Madness that much deeper!?

Best... Anime... Ever.

All anime in the world sucks. ALL of it. Except this one. Never in my life have I seen even decent anime, and I have completely let go of the thought that anime can be decent in any way. That was until I saw this. How can it be, that a little animation that can be watched for free on a website can be way better than all the commercial crap? The awesomeness of this animation just boggles my mind. Everything is done so well. Although it could have been longer perhaps.

Whoah! This is amazing.

So this is what the Castle series went to... From a plotless action flick to a full-grown story. The best thing about these Castle 3 episodes is amazing graphics, sounds and cinematic directing. Almost every single shot, I was like "Wow!". It looked and sounded so good. The voice acting is decent, even pretty good, wich is a rarity in any flash movie.
However, the story is a clear sign that the Castle series began as a pointless action flick, evolving to a big movie series with a "deep" story. I would have most likely enjoyed a Castle 2 style action flick as Castle 3. By the way. Castle 2 is one of my favorite flashmovies of all time.

This is never seen before.

The music, sounds and especially the graphics were something so new and diffrent. It had a horror movie type atmosphere. But I just don't like movies with too much blood in them.
